Success stories

Previous situation:

24 Symbols had a cloud hosting provider specializing in PHP and Ruby on Rails as the latter was the language with which they worked. The initial sizing of the platform was based on three servers, two load-balanced front-end web servers, working on a master database.

Issues:

  • Inflexible platform: Did not allow control or agile development of the equipment
  • Lack of support: Payment service based in the USA
  • Unbalanced budget: Monthly costs were a surprise at the end of the month, varying considerably from one period to another
  • Lack of functionality: Inability to self-size in accordance with demand.

Solution:

Gigas conducted a study of their situation and drafted a contingency plan creating a new structure and carrying out the migration process effortlessly in less than AN HOUR AND A HALF!

Benefits:

  • A focus on business
  • Platform stability and flexibility
  • Local support and in Spanish
  • Advanced technology
  • Satisfied users.
  • Cost control.
  • International coverage.
  • Complete control of the platform.

Previous situation:

Our client had a data center located within their own facilities, consisting of multiple physical servers.

Issues:

  • High overheads (electricity, staff, internet, etc.)
  • Difficulty in getting new investment to provide more resources
  • Constant technical problems that distracted them from their core business (system crashes, falls, loss of information, management of backups, etc.)
  • Rigid platform that did not allow scalability of resources, when clients were lost, the platform was underutilized
  • Fear of possible theft, natural disasters, supply problems, loss of information, etc

Solution:

After analyzing their situation, our client chose to migrate from a dedicated platform to a gigas cloud platform consisting of a 48 GB Cloud Datacenter with 22 TB SATA storage, VPN, Load Balancers, VLAN and Advanced Backup.

Benefits:

  • Better balanced accounts (Capex to Opex conversion)
  • High-availability system with load balancer
  • Option to auto-scale to fit business needs
  • Complete platform control from a simple control panel
  • Conversion of an in-house data center to one with Tier III rating (including all security measures it involves)
  • Advanced Backup for information retrieval if necessary
  • 24/7 support and customer service
  • Immediate implementation
  • Infrastructure as a Service: Gigas takes full responsibility for technical problems, system failures, etc.
  • Scalable platform according to business needs

Previous situation:

In 2005, CITA acquired its own physical data center to meet its internal needs and those required for services to its community:
  • Web servers with about 360,000 monthly visits
  • E-mail server with about 200 users
  • Server distribution lists with about 50,000 users
  • Several online campuses with over 15,000 students in total

Issues:

  • Long implementation process: 6 Months
  • Initial investment: €300,000 over 8 Years
  • Physical area: Over 45 m2
  • Staff: 3 technicians
In addition, the platform was becoming too small, as when, for example, they launched a new website.

Solution:

Gigas offered them a Cloud Datacenter trial. When they were certain about the power available, CITA decided on the following platform:
  • Cloud Datacenter with 24 GB RAM
  • 30 vCPUs (63 GHz)
  • 500 GB RAID 6 SAN fiber channel storage
  • 3000 GB monthly traffic transfer
  • 50 Mbps connectivity
  • 5 public IP addresses
  • Basic Firewall
  • Weekly Basic Backup (500 GB)
  • 24/7 advanced support
  • High-availability load-balancer (failover)
  • 1000 GB RAID 6 SAN fiber channel storage
  • Fiber channel connection (8 Gbps) between servers and storage
  • 10G Cisco technology network (10 Gbps)
  • Autonomous systems with own IP address in Europe (RIPE), the United States (ARIN) and Latinamerica (LATNIC)
  • Redundant transit with Tier I global operators
  • Dual redundant power connection (provided by two independent suppliers)
  • Uninterrupted power supply and batteries
  • Redundant diesel generators

Benefits:

  • Cost reduction
  • Pay-as-you-go
  • Flexibility and scalability
  • Easy to use
  • Total security
  • Provision in real time
  • Standardized templates for subsequent replicas for OS installation, applications, etc.
